Tax-exempt sales

Exemption type and ID, certificate photos, keeping exemptions on file, and the audit report.

For a tax-exempt customer (a disabled veteran, nonprofit, government agency, resale buyer and others):

  1. Choose the client, then tap Tax exempt sale… under the ticket totals.
  2. Choose the exemption type and enter the exemption ID number from their card or certificate. Both are required. Add the name on the certificate, who issued it and the expiration date.
  3. Tap Take or upload photo to keep a picture of the certificate.
  4. Leave Keep on file ticked so it applies automatically next time.
  5. Tap Apply exemption. A new exemption needs a manager PIN unless your role allows it.

The ticket shows Tax exempt and the tax not charged; staff can remove it for one sale. Expired exemptions can't be used.

For filing and audits

Every exempt sale is saved with the type, ID, name, issuer, expiration, who approved it and the tax not charged. Reports › Tax lists them all; export to CSV for your accountant or an auditor. Certificate photos open from the client's profile.
