Choose your business type and starter menu

Pick nail, hair, med spa, tattoo, retail, clothing or record store, set your hours, and get an editable starter menu, calendars and automations.

The first time the account owner opens the Register, Rowan offers to set up the account for your kind of business. You can run it again any time from the setup checklist in POS settings (Start or Change).

  1. Business type. Nail salon; hair salon or barbershop; med spa or day spa; tattoo studio; general retail or gift shop; clothing boutique; record store.
  2. Hours. The days and hours you're open. For businesses that take bookings, tick Set up my booking calendars and Rowan creates your main calendar (Salon, Spa or Studio) plus a personal calendar for each team member with a login. See Hours and booking calendars.
  3. Starter menu. Typical services and products grouped by category, with prices, durations, rebook timing and options (for example hair length, laser area, flash tattoo size and ink, clothing sizes or vinyl price tiers). Everything is ticked; untick what you don't offer and change prices to yours. Sample packages and memberships are included where they fit.
  4. Automations. The automations that suit your business. Nothing is turned on unless you tick it.

Rowan never changes or removes items you already have; an item with the same name is skipped. If you're switching business type, you can tick Archive the items I have now that aren't on this menu. Archived items move to the Archived tab and can be restored; past sales aren't affected.

Shops (retail, clothing, record store) see Customers instead of Clients in the menu.
